Putting Chargemaster Back Together Again

The Chargemaster is a hospital’s secret book of rates that is used to bill both insured and uninsured patients. Over the decades, these rates have become artificially inflated, which greatly impact the rise of healthcare costs in the USA. Using data science, we were able to reconstruct the book of Chargemaster rates in real-time, to understand if, when, and how much rates were increased for various medical procedures.
Isaac Palka

Isaac Palka is a seasoned engineering leader in the healthcare tech space. He is currently a Sr. Director of Engineering at Signify Health, where he’s responsible for their value-based care products.
He previously led engineering teams at Cigna Health Insurance, and built a provider contracting platform. He holds 3 software patents around medical billing and forecasting.
Isaac has an MBA from NYU Stern, and a B.Eng in Electrical Engineering from The Cooper Union.
